COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Position:

Part-Time, Flexible

Description:

Assist media relations needs and the launch of COSC’s new website.

Reports to:

Communications Specialist

Salary:

Unpaid with potential for compensation after review period.

Position Summary

COSC is Iowa’s trusted educational resource for sustainable building and seeks capable go-getter to assist with the launch of new website. This position presents opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the following areas:

    • Learning about a respected local non-profit and Iowa’s green building industry
    • Working with knowledgeable staff and design company in launching of a new robust and information-rich website
    • Researching, coordinating, writing, editing and updating content
    • Producing member profile/case study stories
    • Coordinating feature content such as “Ask the Expert” videos and messaging, and a Sustainable Resource Directory search tool
    • Managing and improving social media strategies
      • Marketing strategies for website, programs and memberships
Qualifications and Skills Preferred:
  • Experience and/or education in one of the following areas: communications, journalism, marketing or public/media relations.
  • Excellent written and interactive communications skills
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency with Macintosh computers
  • Organized, creative thinker
  • Ability to be flexible, positive, take initiative, and demonstrate good judgment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow-through on tasks and projects
