More consumers are becoming conscientious about the building practices that go into constructing a home as well as the quality of life that their family enjoys. Mainstream media touts the values of energy efficient, improved air quality and better built homes. COSC wants to help prepare you to answer these questions from prospective buyers.

Energy efficient homes are built better than the average home.  To achieve an “tight envelope”, builders must use quality products and good construction techniques to create a seal that can control air quality and energy consumption.

There are also an increasing number of Green Loans available. EEMs, Energy Efficient Mortgages, take the energy savings and convert it to more attainable home ownership. A qualified energy efficient home with a green loan has a lower monthly mortgage and can have a lower interest rate than a typical home. The energy savings for the homeowner can be used in paying the mortgage, thus increasing the number of potential homeowners.
